problem when import signals format .wav

Hi all, I am graduate student and now i am doing a research about signal processing in building. I wanna use geopsy to be my solver program to analize the frequency and the damping ratio of a structure given, and then my advice lecturer ask me to show how is geopsy work with a simple sinusoidal wave.
To answer my lecturer ask, I have made a sinusoidal wave using matlab program, then write the wave into .wav format. But when i import it in geopsy program, the frequency is correct, but the amplitude is too big than the amplitude i have given (amplitude design is only 0,5 but the amplitude show in geopsy was 4000).
Maybe I was wrong in setting the geopsy program. Can anybody help me?. Thanks.
