Weighting the measurements-Inversion

Hi,

I am wondering about how the weighting works in dispersion measurement inversions? Is there a related equation/expression for NA? I try to explore the behaviour of the inversion by manually increasing and decreasing the weights but so far it didn't seem to make a big impact on the inversion.

There are two types of weights in Dinver:

• Misfit weight in target widget
• Statistical weight of each sample of a dispersion curve (also for spac and ellipticity)

I assume you referred to the second type. These weights are simply not used during the inversion. They store the number of time windows used for the computation of mean and standard deviation for FK processing of ambient vibrations. Thanks to this information it is possible to combine two curves obtained with distinct datasets with a result equivalent to the simultaneous processing of both datasets together (within the same FK run).
