about entering the station coordinates at GEOPSY

Hi,

I want to perform beamforming by using the high resolution f-k in geopsy for over 100 broadband stations. I have the latitude and longitude values in degrees.

However i couldnt enter the coordinates of those stations in geopsy. Can you suggest anything on how can i enter the coordinates of those stations.

View all your station in a table or graphic (3 components if they have 3C), menu edit/set receivers. There you can load an external file with any type of coordinates including a kml file from GoogleEarth.

The above page contains useful information but it is not completely up-to-date. Current version can now accept .kml files, UTM and a fixed geographical position can be set for local projection from geodetic to Cartesian coordinates. Internally, Geopsy does not handle geographical coordinates but only rectangular ones because Geopsy was originally built for small scale experiments (not larger than a few kilometers).

UTM has currently one limitation: if your experiment is setup across a limit of two UTM sectors the transform from geodetic to UTM might be erroneous. Future release will include the possibility to force only one UTM sector.

Oups, about to have a look at your image... your array extends all over Turkey... so some 1000 km long and probably more.

The HRFK implemented in Geopsy is making the assumption that Earth is flat (valid a the scale of a few kilometers), not sure that this is still valid for such a large array. A better HRFK implementation written in spherical coordinates would be much better (I cannot tell you how much). This is not very difficult to code that but its currently beyond the scope of Geopsy. You should ask Matthias Ohrnberger if he can provide you some code for such purpose.
